ベンガラ染職人から教えてもらったのは、

「薄い色を、深く染める」という考え方でした。

その言葉に惹かれ、

淡い色の中にどれだけ奥行きを宿せるかを意識しながら、

色の重なりを確かめて染め上げた一着です。

やわらかく沈んだ色合いは、

布がもともと持っていた刺繍の表情を邪魔することなく、

グレーの刺繍とも静かに調和しています。

はっきりと主張する色ではなく、

時間が重なったような、深く落ち着いた佇まい。

染めと刺繍、そのどちらも引き立て合いながら、

お気に入りの一点が完成しました。

What I learned from a Bengara dye artisan

was the philosophy of “dyeing pale colors deeply.”

Drawn to those words,

this piece was dyed while carefully considering

how much depth could be brought out from a soft, light tone,

checking the layering of color as the process progressed.

The gently settled hue does not interfere

with the embroidery and texture the fabric originally possessed,

and instead harmonizes quietly with the gray embroidery.

Rather than a color that makes a strong statement,

it carries a calm, composed presence—

as if layers of time have accumulated upon it.

The dye and the embroidery enhance one another,

resulting in a piece that has become a personal favorite.

No two pieces are exactly the same.
